Our region is ideal for both hiking and cycling. There are many marked touristic trails and also several cycling trails, taking you to remarkable parts of our country. Right after your arrival to the town of Přeštice you are welcome by its beautiful dominant, the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, the second biggest baroque church in Bohemia, built by Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer. Worth visiting is also the local museum "Dům historie Přešticka", offering various thematic displays to its exhibition. A pleasant walk leads to the St. Ambrose church in Vícov, the best preserved roman building in the Pilsen Region. On the nearby hill Ticholovec /480 m/, you can sit and relax in a romantic recess next to the picture of St. Vojtěch, who is said to have stayed here. In the nearby village of Příchovice /1,5 km/ you can visit the St. Ann Chappell, which stands under a massive linden and is also the theme of an interesting tale. History and sightseeing enthusiasts can visit the town of Klatovy on a bicycle, by car or by train and make a stop for instance at the chateau of Lužany /2,5 km/, formerly home to the native of Přeštice, the patron Josef Hlávka. You can also see the chateau of Červené Poříčí /8km/, the water castle of Švihov /11 km/, the chateau of Chudenice /22 km/ with its American garden and popular lookout Bolfánek, former dwelling of Josef Dobrovský and later of Jaroslav Kvapil. In Klatovy you definitely should not miss out visiting the catacombs or the baroque pharmacy. Admirers of beautiful nature can prolong their trip to the Šumava Mountains. You can also liven up your travelling to Pilsen by visiting several castles or chateaus. Some of the most beautiful are the chateau of Dolní Lukavice, the chateau Kozel or the chateau of Nebílovy, well worth a visit is also the ruin of the castle Radyně, standing on the highest hill in the Pilsen surroundings. In the city of Pilsen we recommend visiting the observatory in the tower of the Cathedral of St. Bartholomew, which is the highest church tower in Bohemia, then the third biggest synagogue in the world, the historical underground tunnels, the Museum of Beer Brewing in the premises of the Pilsner Urquell Brewery. The children would surely appreciate visiting the zoo or the Dinopark. In our region, there are many other interesting places, we´ll be glad to inform you about during your stay, or you can possibly visit the local information centre. To sport enthusiasts, we can recommend for instance visiting the sporting area, just meters away from our guest house. Here you can play tennis, volleyball, basketball or table tennis. |
